This past week I was off from my full-time job, so I decided to go visit my Dad in Arizona with my daughter, Aubrey. First, traveling with a child under 2 by yourself is a crazy idea. What's even crazier is that I did redeye flights in the hopes that she would sleep. Friday, February 16th, we went to Newark, NJ and flew to Phoenix, AZ. Aubrey was so good on the flight. She fell right asleep and didn't wake up. She was sitting on my lap which was uncomfortable for me, but at her age, she was able to fly for free.
For the first part of our trip, we stayed at Holiday Inn Grand Vacations in Scottsdale, AZ. I had to sit in on one of those 2 hour presentations while they try to sell you the timeshare. I respectfully declined, but enjoyed the 2 bedroom suite that I was staying in! The weather was actually colder in Arizona than it was in NY. We met up with my Dad and went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner on our first evening in Arizona. On Sunday, we went to the Chinese New Year Festival. It was a lot of fun and we were able to watch Chinese Dance Performances, as well as taste a variety of cuisine. On Monday, we went to the Wildlife World Zoo. It was Aubrey's first trip to the zoo! Tuesday and Wednesday we lounged around Peoria where my Dad lives.
On Thursday, my dad took us to Sedona, AZ. It was so pretty with all of the red rocks. We took a Pink Jeep Tour through "Coyote Canyon". Aubrey had her own carseat in the Jeep and survived the bumpy terrain. On our last day, we did some shopping at the local mall and brought back some souvenirs. We took a redeye flight and came back to Newark early Saturday morning!
We had an awesome time and very happy that Aubrey and I could spend some quality time with my Dad. Here are some pictures from my trip! I highly recommend visiting Arizona soon!
